DISCOUNT PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
(USA only)

The AARP Pharmacy Service, provided by the Retired Persons Services, sets prices nationally that apply to each of its mail service pharmacies. These prices are for our members in all 50 states. In some local areas, drugs frequently taken by older persons have been coming down in price. Some items, including prescriptions, are offered as "loss leaders." These are items sold at or below cost to gain a new customer. This means some pharmacies are willing to lose money on prescriptions to attract customers in the hope they will purchase other high profit items. We encourage our members to shop around and compare prices for the best individual opportunities in their own communities, and to take full advantage of savings wherever they are greatest.

TO FIND OUT IF SOMETHING EMAILED TO YOU IS A HOAX OR HALF TRUTH:

The Mining Company's Urban Legend site at the URL
http://urbanlegends.miningco.com/

This site has extensive info exposing various Urban Legends (URLs) for what they really are: on-line hoaxes and fabricated half truths designed to make us all just a little more paranoid than we really need to be.

GEOGRAPHY, MAPS

This information could be useful as with any other worldly source. There is a listing for 250+ countries of the world with a map and other related information. As we read the yearbook or other publications, a map might give a new insight into what we are reading. Take a look at: http://www.emulateme.com/ pick a country and check the results. BTW, the map can be copied by right clicking on it and selecting save as. Perusal of this site led to another resource for the 50 states and territories of the USA at: http://www.50states.com/. These resources can be especially useful for the projects our kids are assigned in school.
